If I lived in Tennessee I would be asking myself, What is the name of the country I live in? According to a report in the Times Gazette Tyson Food Plant will get rid of Labor Day for Eid al-Fitr day. In addition, another paid holiday as been added, Iidal Fitil, a Muslim holiday that occurs toward the end of Ramadan.
I can understand adding holidays to accommodate the Muslim workers at the plant, however, to take away Labor Day is wrong. It’s not fair. Labor Day is a national holiday. In fact, the first Labor Day was celebrated on September 5, 1882, in New York City. It is a city and federal holiday. What is happening to the traditions of our great nation. People are trying to re-write history and downplay our culture. Labor day was a creation of the Labor Movement – it is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers and now it is being pushed aside by TYSON. I for one will not buy another Tyson product in protest of doing away with Labor Day. Again, I do not object to adding new holidays to accommodate Muslim workforce but I do object to pushing aside Labor Day. Mitchelle Malkin has a good story about this topic.
PLEASE NOTE: TYSON FOOD PLANT CHANGED IT AROUND AND WILL HONOR LABOR DAY! ! ! !
THANK YOU TYSON FOOD PLANT. PLEASE BUY TYSON PRODUCTS – TYSON CAME THROUGH.
