I don’t know if Russell Brand thought he was funny or thought he would getting ratings. Perhaps Mr. Brand was just playing into the hands of Camp Obama but I found him to be disgusting. Mr. Brand you got it wrong! And how dare you try to make jokes about Bristol Palin. What on earth is in your head Mr. Brand? I don’t get your thinking or your sense of humor.
Now, the show is geared to young people and his constant remarks about the Jonas Brothers Band were uncalled for and stupid. Brand was actually mocking Christians who decide to wear promise rings. The Jonas Brothers are VERY POPULAR and Mr. Brand kept on mocking them throughout the night – I hope all their fans speak up. Who is this Mr. Brand to come on American TV and mock our values. Better yet Why The ”H” did MTV put him on their TV station. How dare Mr. Brand call our President a retarded cowboy!
According to Michellemalkin.com the AP gave two thumbs up. What is going on in this country? Bill O’Reilly keeps saying American Journalism is dead. He is right, it is dead. The news is not fair and it is not balanced. The left wing media want Obama in the White House. They will stop at nothing to get him in. Their values are not our values we must stand with Senator John McCAIN and fight. WE MUST FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY. STAND-UP AMERICAN. STAND-UP. Senator McCain is right – WE MUST STAND-UP AND FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY.
Let’s get the letters going into MTV to tell them what we think. LET’S GO GIRLS! Calling all hockey moms let your voice be heard. Calling all AMERICANS…………..let’s stand-up against the left wing media – let’s shout-out to them………….WE ARE STANDING WITH JOHN McCAIN……….WE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY. WE LOVE AMERICA. WE HAVE ALWAYS FELT PROUD OF OUR COUNTRY UNLIKE SOME.
The way I see it we have the War in Iraq, War in Afganistan and War at Home. For year the left-wingers have been trying to change our country. Is this the change we want or need? NO IT IS NOT. Every time we see or hear something that is not with our values or that offends us we must stand-up and say so. I say Boycott MTV. I say act – write, call do whatever you can to get your voice heard. We need to fight for our country. Ok, I just went back to read Michelle’s blog and she says – “MTV, of course, is a division of left-wing media giant Viacom.” That is who we must write Viacom. Please go here and write your comments. iT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS PLEASE STAND-UP AND LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD. THANK YOU. When you go to the page CONTACT IS AT THE LOWER right corner of the page. It is easy to do – please let your voice be heard. Thank you.
You might also think about contacting the Jonas Brother Fan Club to tell them you support them and you are disgusted with Mr. Brand’s remarks.
READ DISCLAIMER
This isn’t about race or gender.
Neither that man, nor that network, represent the views of Obama supporters, so you know.
Many of us are religious and morally-upright. A lot of us (myself) are not even – nor will ever be – Democrats. They are supporters who are clueless nuts. I believe you have a few of your own.
They are a distraction from the issues. Please read up on the issues, and please read your candidates and my candidates issues and make a reasonable decision about the future of this country.
For all the talk on both sides about lofty social agendas, I think you’ll find that none have a real voting record forwarding anything as broad as the ones they are running on. If you look more closely, you’ll see a lot more complexity. You’ll see Obama supporting provisions for war and other Republican Initiatives, you’ll see Palin ving against abortion and gay marriage restrictions. They are politicians.
Focus on the things they will actually affect…education, healthcare, the economy, our standing in the world. Think hard.
Brand didn’t say anyone who doesn’t vote for Obama is a racist. He said people who claim America isn’t ready for a black president are racist. There is a big difference.
Since when was comedy supposed to have a political agenda?
I want to start this post by letting people know I have no political agenda. It does not matter to me who wins the elections.
I don’t care much for Brands style of comedy – he irritates me, but I cannot help but feel that this outcry is ironic by any standard.
I can understand the feeling behind the reaction, but putting Brand’s comments into context, and looking at the past, reveals that he does have a solid base on which to make those comments as a comedian.
Bush has made himself open to attack on this front for years. On a more recent note, he sanctioned US ground forces to conduct operations inside Pakistan without Pakistani permission. This is a massive violation of international law and a blatent show of disrespect for an islamic country by a western power in a generally hostile and unstable region. It is unacceptable and unjustifiable. To call Bush a ‘retarded cowboy’, in comparison, is minor and, with irresponsible actions such as the above, absolutely justified.
Maybe thinking and understanding the reasoning behind the observatory nature of the comments would lead to a more reasoned reaction where freedom of speech is championed, yet apparently cannot be tolerated.
Ultimately, I doubt Brand cares either way for the American presidency, but used the line as part of his act. Political? Maybe inadvertantly he was, and to this extent perhaps he should have thought of the implications but remember he is a comedian and will see boundaries as there to be pushed and strained. Without defending or condemning him, there are much more important things to be upset about.

Funny how comedians from the UK always call America racist. The first black congressman in the USA took office in 1868; the first “black” (actually Asian Indian, but the British refer to him as black) parliament member in the UK took office in 1892. In the USA, the first black female was elected in 1968; in the UK, the first black female was elected in 1987. The first black cabinet member in the USA was appointed in 1966; the first black cabinet member in the UK was appointed in 2002. The first female cabinet member in the USA was appointed in 1977; the first black female cabinet member in the UK was appointed in 2003.
I’ll give the UK credit that they have been ahead of the USA when it comes to electing women to office. However, the USA has been at least a generation ahead of the UK when it comes to non-whites in politics. So shouldn’t comedians in the UK start calling themselves out as racist before pointing at the USA. Goshdarnit, we are sexist not racist…just look at our press’s reaction to Palin!
