Look what inspired me to start-up my blog, President Bush’s last press conference! I voted for President Bush because I wanted our country to be safe from terror events and you know what folks, the goal was met. Say what you will but in my opinion, America was safer because the rest of the world knew President Bush meant business and a lot of evil-doers feared him. President Bush, like all humans, is far from perfect but he is a good man and I think history will reveal this. Two areas in which I remain critical of the Bush administration is the slow response following Hurricane Katrina and Iraq.
Iraq was a mistake in many ways. I supported the initial action. I cheered when Saddam, his sons and others were brought down. I did not cheer their demise but I cheered the end to their ugly power. I can remember my mother saying, “This is going to be like another Vietnam.” As for the slow response to Katrina, it was a national disgrace and there is no excuse.
As for the recession, I believe President Bush did indeed inherit it. I disagree with his critics who have much to say about his “bail-out”. Again, President Bush did what he thought was best for our country. He like many of us did not want to see the recession turn into a depression. If you want to read viewpoints from his critics head on over to Malkin’s site for a good earful. I wish President Bush and his family all the best and I thank them for their service to our country and to our critics – America is a great land isn’t that why so many people want to come and live here?
America will miss George Bush. He was the right man for the job as he stuck with principle rather than let polls determine his action. I will disagree with you on Katrina and Iraq. Strategically, Iraq was a must and we have won there. If the Iraq critics would only think, the realization that Iran is boxed in by two Muslim countries friendly to the US; there is now a buffer between Pakistan and Iran and also between Syria and Iran. My greatest hope is that Obama will not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory which, seeing his choices for Intel and State, is a great possibility. Also, that feeling of safety and security that you have now? Kiss it goodbye. The muslims see Obama as a weak apostate and will make the US pay with more attacks on our country. Obama’s response to the first will determine just how MANY attacks we will see here. This country is, as of Tuesday, in greater danger than we were in before Bush took office.
